Elena Maria Piech is a senior Emerging Media major at Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York. She is the recipient of the Park Scholarship, a full ride scholarship awarded to students that have a passion for media, new technology, and serving others. She’s particularly interested in the future of culture, marketing, and interactive media.
Elena understands that consumption patterns and media are changing. Within the past year, Elena’s had the opportunity to attend the Future of Storytelling Summit, the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), and South by Southwest (SXSW). Attending these conferences gave Elena better insights on emerging trends and the future of experiential mediums.
Aside from her insights, Elena is a highly decorated media maker. She served as the marketing and communications intern for The Glimpse Group, a venture capital firm investing in virtual reality and augmented reality technologies. Her news and feature stories produced for WRFI, Ithaca’s community radio station, and WICB, Ithaca College’s radio station, have won awards from both the New York State Broadcasters Association, Syracuse Press Club, and the Society of Professional Journalists. She was an assistant producer for a documentary about the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The documentary aired on over 75 PBS stations across the nation. She also reported at the 2017 Presidential Inauguration with PBS NewsHour.
